One main disadvantage of the Pro plan is that it doesn’t come with historical data.

You can only see how a site is performing now, and not get data for its performance three years ago.

For years, these SEO tools have been fighting for the lead. In 2026, the differences seem clear, as many SEO professionals describe Ahrefs is best for analysts, while Semrush is for marketers.

Pricing:

The Ahrefs price starts at $129/month for the Lite plan, while the Semrush start at $139.95 per month for the Pro plan.

Ahrefs uses a credit-based system. If you subscribe to a power user, you may need to upgrade to a higher plan if you hit limits for getting reports, whereas Semrush offers a daily limit of 3,000 reports per day on the Pro plan.

Both tools offer a competitive price, but Ahrefs has a slight edge on backlink index, while Semrush wins on AI Visibility and PPC data that Ahrefs ignores.

Moz has existed before Semrush and Ahrefs. Moz is now a better alternative to both tools, and the most affordable for small businesses.

What I like about Moz is that it has a low price for beginners who can’t afford to pay a hundred bucks for an SEO tool.

But its features are limited.

Like Semrush, Moz also has Local SEO tools and the page-crawl limits of 400,000 pages on the standard plan, which costs $99 per month.

What makes a big difference is that the Moz keyword database is significantly smaller compared to the Semrush.

So, I recommend Semrush for most bloggers, marketers and SEO professionals.
